Hello to all the Beauties out there!
Welcome to my first installation of the Katherine Webster blog since before March 19th, 2015 when I very suddenly lost my long time partner and beloved husband Lex. He was the angel of my life, my friend, my sweetheart and my lamb. I believe he was taken too soon but I must be content with the idea that he was needed somewhere else, in a better place I think, and so I am now left to my own devices to follow the dreams we shared together.
This is my blog. A style blog. A blog for women like me who enjoy the art of dressing, feeling and looking stylish and enjoying who they are, but, it’s also a blog for intelligent women who enjoy participating in all of life’s pleasures and meeting life’s challenges.
This first installation is called Extending Your Wardrobe and it’s just a bit of an introduction to a philosophy, a series of products, and some ideas. I hope you enjoy it. I intend to make it more about the beauty of style than the rush of fashion. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be a hamster on the wheel of fashion always chasing the latest hemlines and trends. I like my style to be about me. Who I am and what I’m doing. I want to feel beautiful, confident and content with myself and I want to share that with you. So here it is, the first installment of my new blog
Extending Your Wardrobe
The cleverest way to extend your wardrobe and make it interesting is with the use of quick and intellectual fashion accessories. I know you already know that, everybody knows that, but what if you know that, but still aren’t truly embracing it as well as you think you could? Wouldn’t you love the idea of truly personalizing your look to become the woman that everyone admires because of your effortless style and confidence?
I haven’t met a woman in any age group that isn’t busy these days. If not with work, it’s with kids and if not with work and kids than you’re probably involved in some kind of extra curricular activity and this leaves the historically important wardrobe planning and ritual of dressing somewhere near the bottom of the list.
Not a pretty site and not so good for the confidence when you have a world to face. I say with some simple wardrobe and accessory planning the job becomes a breeze and dressing for yourself and the world becomes a joy once again.
The idea behind all of my designs, including handbags, jewelry etc. was to create intellectual accessories for women. I also am passionate about bringing individuality, a wonderful element of color and even a bit of joy to any woman’s daily routine.
Color is wonderful, period. But wearing exciting colors, (not the “basics” which I’ll discuss shortly), is a little unnerving for any of us, not to mention expensive, challenging and downright dangerous. Wearing small shots of amazing color, however, is not only clever, it’s marvelous, it’s artistic and it allows you to make an easy statement about the wonderful, chic and tasteful woman that you are.
When I developed my “Better Handbag” products, I wanted articles that were unique, eye catching, different from anything else on the market and absolutely precious. I wanted the handbag to go beyond simple function into a private world where a woman could love carrying it, looking at it, showing it off and most of all cherishing it for its individualistic and artistic beauty. I know I achieved that.
Also, I was defiant. There was absolutely no way that I would create a product that would be anything less than perfect, high end quality. No one would ever, (in their snobbish fashion ways), have even a remote opportunity to turn their nose up with even a hint that these products were of a lesser quality. So, I made them in the studios, ateliers and in the case of the jewelry, a small historic factory, that were top notch perfection, in other words the finest places in the world. I am very, very proud of that. Let anyone, anywhere take a close look at these products. They are the best you will find anywhere.
But enough about my philosophies, I tend to get very emotional about these, my darling designs, and I’m fiercely protective. You’ll have to forgive me for that after all, I do consider myself an artist and creative person above anything else and as any artist will tell you we often tend to rant when we feel strongly enough about something.
Now on to the theories of dressing with shots of fabulous, breathtaking, vivid, passionate and supremely beautiful color, color, color.
